Core Concept – This artwork was born from the intention to reflect the “identity of Krabi people,” inspired by prehistoric art — from ancient cave paintings in Krabi reimagined into a “Totem,” a symbol of belief, humanity, and the life force of this land.
Inspiration – The inspiration stems from the fusion of past and present, the culture, beliefs, and spirit of the local people. The artist aims to express the unity between humans and nature through the use of natural and local materials such as wood, rattan, woven fabrics, beads, and shells. These expressive “faces” represent the many dimensions of Krabi’s people, the “Faces of Krabi” that tell stories of their heritage and identity.
Design Interpretation – The work takes the form of a Totem Symbol representing the diverse community of Krabi, its cultures, ethnicities, and beliefs. Natural materials like wood, rattan, beads, shells, and other local elements are integrated into symbolic patterns. Each component is deliberately composed to convey the bond between humans and nature in this region, weaving together the past, present, and future of Krabi’s people through contemporary art infused with local cultural essence.
